Decor & Style

The Collection building is an old warehouse and opened as a restaurant in May 1997. Prior to this it has been used as a Porsche garage, Conran furniture shop and Katherine Hamnett clothing boutique. The 80ft long catwalk was designed by architect Sir Norman Foster. The interior design was closely co-ordinated between Foster and Mogens Tholstrup. The Collection sports one of London's longest bars (60ft). The Shell design originates from Mexico symbolising the year 2000 in Aztec culture. The artwork in the catwalk changes monthly. The artwork in the Lounge and Restaurant are speakers created by Artcoustics. Laura Bradley designed the lounge booths and chairs. The silver wallpaper in the bar (near dispense bar) is the work of David Palmer. In April 2002 The Collection added more international pieces of art to reflect the more cosmopolitan nature of Chelsea. However rustoc and warm remains very much the Collection culture!
